What Is Going On Here

(Tibetan and Cha'an Buddhist Monks, Putuoshan Island, China by author)

"The world is your exercise-book, the pages on which you do your sums.
It is not reality, although you can express reality there if you wish.
You are also free to write nonsense, or lies, or to tear the pages."

(Richard Bach, The Messiah's Handbook)

Great words like Compassion and Empathy go on without us. They don't come like an orgasm and take us with them. It's not possible. Ah, how compassion and empathy do go on without us, sucking air from spaces that are too small, leaving us exhausted.
Yes, like the world, compassion and empathy "go on without us", leaving us, bodies, shrouded and sleeping at our wake.

(Little Death meets Big Death in an alley. What happens? Nothing but the Truth.
Fear, opening and curling in the throats of those professing otherwise, is No Where Man. As powerful an inevitability as death is Truth.)

Oh, with wanton short-sightedness we are all led to caverns of self loathing and self lying where
the great words Compassion and Empathy are like go on, not here, are you kidding? All the while, we close the curtains, hide from the cosmic headlights that have turned-up our lonesome path to catch us fornicating with a sticky belief system. Cornered, red-faced and sputtering, we declare we know Truth.

Meanwhile, compassion and empathy, persevere.

"Go on, without us?"

It's kind of like The Others. We are the ghosts. Compassion and Empathy are human.)
